I have been privileged to meet the award-winning actress Anna-Mart van der Merwe in my capacity as a theatre publicist ~ Anna-Mart is a woman I admire tremendously, and when she agreed to do my 5 Q’s I was both delighted and honoured. She has just been nominated for a Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Athol Fugard’s The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek.

5 Q’s

1.Tell us what you do for a living?

I am a freelance actor and have been at it for 30 years.

2.What is your passion-what inspires you?

Nature, people and this mysterious thing called life.

3.What is it that inspires you about Cape Town?

The mountains and the constant dialogue between the two oceans and the coastline.

4.Name a favourite travel destination and why do you love it?

Too difficult to choose, but: Paris, because she let’s me walk and explore and then I do know the Greek Isles make my spirit and body relax in ways I don’t experience elsewhere.

5. What are a few of your favourite things in life and what is your pet peeve?

Favourite – Travelling, art, music, wine, tea light candles, books, newspapers, figs, medjool dates

Peeve:  to get me from a zero to a hundred: cigarette butts or any other litter flying out of the car in front of me…

Don’t miss Anna-Mart in * The Mother, currently on at the Fugard Theatre until 4 March,2017. (Please note, I am not the PR on the *production)
