“I hate trains,” said no-one, ever!
My trip to Kruger Shalati (click the link to watch the video) was a dream- to experience a stay in suspended bliss was a truly unique safari experience.
Kruger Shalati reimagines the historic experience of visiting Kruger National Park by train, inspired by the 1920s Selati Railway Line. Back then, steam trains brought tourists through the park, often stopping overnight on the very bridge the hotel now occupies. After decades of disuse, the bridge and vintage carriages were restored and resurrected in 2016 to evoke that bygone era.
Restored with a contemporary, non-colonial design, the train carriages blend modern luxury with nostalgic charm and African design flair.
