Uber innovation is what makes my heart skip a beat. Siam@Siam is a hotel in Wang Mai, Patumwan that has brought the sexy back into hotelling and it’s a salve for the design conscious soul.
Great Location
Situated in the heart of Bangkok between the old and developed quarters of the city, Siam @ Siam is a 4.5 star property opposite the National Stadium, a perfect location close to the BTS station (of the same name) and several must-see places such as the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, the Jim Thompson House around the corner, and the Yelo Gallery, a few blocks away.
Decor, Suites & Amenities
Siam @ Siam is like a 25 floor gallery. Hand painted murals by Thai artists adorn corridor and bedroom walls, staircase entrances and various spaces through the hotel and are a unique attribute.
The interior is contemporary chic with an eclectic and vibrant edge. Burnt orange, red and tinges of bronze and gold dominate the reception area, a strong energising introduction to the hotel and eye catching decor elements can be found throughout, from door handles to wallpaper, art and lamp shades. I stayed in two different suites – on the 10th floor (a Heritage Suite) and 23rd floor (Grand Club) and both were beautifully luxurious and spacious (51-62 SQM) with adjoining lounges to keep work and downtime separate. The Club rooms (14th – 24th floors) allow exclusive access to My Club where guests can also make use of a personal concierge service and indulge in an à carte breakfast buffet, all-day refreshments and complimentary cocktails in the early evening. The Club suites are situated in the biggest corners of the hotel, with exceptional views overlooking the sprawling metropolis.
Let me take a moment to celebrate the bed – I lost myself in an uber luxurious 7 foot custom made King side bed complete with perfect pillows and high thread count linen. Getting a good nights sleep on a business trip is everything and this was pure bliss and such a spoil!
There is a gorgeous rim~flow pool on the 11th floor that overlooks BK, with an elongated deck and a small gym right next to it. So work out, shower off, and relax poolside with a chilled Singha beer or cocktail.
Service
You cannot fault the attention to detail at Siam @ Siam. From management to the doormen, concierge, housekeeping and waitrons, service is literally with a smile, and your every need is met.
Dining and bars
There are two restaurants – Party House One on the ground floor and the multi~level The Roof Gastro and both are open until late. The latter offers a more unique experience-sky dining- and again, you have wraparound views over Bangkok by night, the city that never sleeps. The Party House One menu is in sync with the surroundings- Thai cuisine, traditional recipes but with a contemporary edge, curated by Executive Chef ‘Tep’, who is more at ease calling himself a cook. For dessert ry the deep fried rice cakes stuffed with sesame paste with vanilla ice cream on the side or, my favourite, the mango and sticky rice with coconut sauce, presented differently but equally delicious. (A new Thai restaurant-Taan- is set to open on the roof by July this year, so keep an eye out for more about that).
Songkran is a few days away- if you’re planning a trip to Bangkok for the festivities, take advantage of the special offers available at the hotel:www.siamatbangkok.com
