For the win: Zari sparkling grape juice & non alcoholic bubbly

I was recently sent a case of Zari consisting of non alcoholic bubbly and sparkling grape juice, a delightful gift and a fabulous discovery. There are often days when I’m not in the mood for anything that has alcohol in it and so this product is the business.

Zari, a 100% single cultivar Muscat sparkling grape juice and non-alcoholic bubbly, is produced in the Western Cape’s Robertson region on Route 62. It’s a refreshing, delicious drink and a clear front runner in its genre.

Attributes are a-plenty: the premium quality; alcohol free option; appealing and oh-so-pretty  packaging (look carefully and you will spot some of the indigenous creatures from the Cape Winelands in the artwork ~ the Cape White Eye bird, an African Monarch butterfly and a Cape Dwarf chameleon), and, one of the most important aspects for an eco diva, sustainability, because the attractive bottles encourage multiple use and live on as water bottles, vases and for those keen to upcycle even further, can be modified into tumblers.

A mocktail recipe – Autumn is approaching and there’s far too much flu’ going around so get a dose of nature’s goodness with this fabulous Ginger Ninja mocktail recipe…

A twist on the classic, old-fashioned ginger beer, a combination of warming ginger, cool mint and zesty lemon packs a flavour punch

Ingredients:

  • 25g peeled and sliced fresh ginger
  • 5 tsp (25ml) water
  • 1 cup (250ml) soda water
  • small handful of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 small lime, sliced
  • 2 cups (500ml) ZARI Lifestyle White
  • 5 tsp (25ml) fresh lemon juice
  • ice, to serve
  • Suggestion: Add an extra teaspoon of ginger concentrate to the jug for a stronger kick!

Use a food processor or a stick blender to blitz the ginger and water together until combined. Strain through a sieve and discard the pulp. Add 2½ teaspoons of the ginger concentrate to a large jug. Add the soda water, fresh mint leaves and lime slices. Top up with ZARI Lifestyle White and the lemon juice. Stir gently, then serve with ice.
