We spent an afternoon absorbing exceptionally inspiring art/ design/ exhibitions/food at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). It’s a must- see when you’re in Bangkok!
From their website: The BACC is a mid-town facility for the contemporary arts. Programmes for art, music, theatre, film, design, and cultural/educational events take place in a friendly and recreational atmosphere – with cafe, restaurants, bookshops, and an art library being part of the facility. The BACC aims to create a meeting place for artists, to provide cultural programmes for the community giving importance to cultural continuity from past to contemporary. It aims to open new grounds for cultural dialogue, networking, and create new cultural resources from both the public and the private sectors. It is intended as a venue for cultural exchange in terms of content, curatorial and cultural management, giving Bangkok an operational base on the international art scene.
What I loved in particular was the superb sushi salad at Hof Eat & Art on the second level; the bookshop, watching the charcoal painter at work; seeing kids enjoying violin lessons, the recycled goods store & the Gallery Drip Coffee shop. The art that surrounds at all these places is of a superior level & so inspiring…we picked up divine hand made cards, bags made from recycled goods, notebooks etc…it was a fabulous time spent in what must be one of the most amazing centers of its kind in the world. Go visit- be amazed & delighted… Art is life!
